Why I Personalize All My Discs

A Great Day for Disc Golf

It was a beautiful sunny January weekend here in San Diego at Morley Field. My friend and I were having a great day playing some disc golf. Everything was going great, we were at hole 4 and a threw a forehand drive, soon it veered right and went into the bushes. As I ran over laughing to pick up my disc I see a man heading straight in my direction. I knew exactly what was happening here, he had mistaken his disc for mine, immediately I knew I didn’t personalize my disc in any way and by the look in his eye and rage in his step, I knew it would be a tough convince.

How it all Started

When I went to pull the disc out he rudely jumped in front of my face and claimed the disc was his. It was a Pink Latitude 64 Gold Line Ballista. I had just gotten the disc, so like a rookie I forgot to put my name on it or personalize it in anyway. He was apparently borrowing it from a friend who didn’t have a name on it either (of course). I told him that both my friend and I watched the disc from the time it left my hand to the bush, but he wouldn’t budge. He told a long drawn out story about how his friend would “kill him” if he didn’t bring her disc back. He obviously needed this disc more than I did. I told him he could just have it and this is the moment where I decided I wasn’t going to let this happen again. Sure, I could continue to buy popular discs and write my name on them, but what happens when I run into another Kira?disc-golf-blank

Personalize Power

Luckily, I stumbled across Fly Discs and and I knew my personalized disc problems would be solved forever! Fly Discs allows you to completely personalize your disc, which is exactly what I needed. First, you choose your own background color, gradients, patterns and stock backgrounds. Next, you add your own text and photos. You can bet my name and number is clearly printed on all of my discs. Having my own personalized collection doesn’t only make me value my discs so much more but I feel as if I’m throwing them with integrity because I know they are personalized just for me and my name is literally on every shot I make. If you are a disc golf player, you need a to personalize a Fly Disc ASAP!

History

snapper-pierson-morley-fieldFor those of you who do not know, Morley Field Disc Golf course was established in 1978 by Snapper Pierson, who is a course pro and Disc Golf Hall of Fame member. Morley Field, located in the heart of America’s Finest City is one of the world’s original disc golf courses and one of (if not #1) the busiest courses in the world. Located just within a few miles from San Diego International Airport, San Diego Harbor, Coronado beaches and downtown, we are not surprised!

Course Overview

morleyfieldisc

This course is open to the public from dusk till dawn, and overall is a shorter course with with a few lengthy holes. The course also features a beautiful southern California landscape with Mach III baskets and concrete tee pads. This is a challenging course with lots of trees and pin placements. Pin positions change each Monday and there are 3-6 positions for each hole.

Teams

The team makeup will remain the same as the last year with 5 open, 4 masters, 2 grand and one woman. Changes from the previous years include changing the playing formula so all the teams play their traveling partner in the 5th round. This way, the play continues and there is no need to come in, reorganize and go back out.

How to Build Your Bag With Drivers

In this video by Avery Jenkins, he teaches you what different qualities and types of drivers you want when building your bag. The first type of driver is a fairway driver, which fly longer than midranges, are easier to throw than fast drivers and are ideal for learning how to master your power grip. The second type of driver is a distance driver, which are medium speed drivers (9-11), medium speed drivers have a medium rim width, are easier for beginners and where they will be most successful throwing! Lastly, he tells you what he thinks makes up the best qualities in a high speed driver and how to select one!
